Oakdale School Fights Back Against Breast Cancer!

A week's worth of cancer awareness events are slated, thanks in part to the relentless efforts of 10-year-old Trevor Lamirande, nephew of beloved Montville educator Traci Hart

From Oakdale Principal Mark Johnson:

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease, to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure, to honor the fallen and the survivors and to remember and support the caregivers

Trevor Lamirande, a grade 5 student at Oakdale School, brought the idea forward of having Oakdale School join this worthy cause. His aunt, Traci Hart, was stricken with breast cancer and passed away in 2011. Traci was also a first grade teacher at Montville's Charles E. Murphy Elementary School. Therefore we want to support a number of activities during October for all of the reasons stated above. We will donate any funds we raise to the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation in the name of Traci Hart.
