Daily Five: Gorgeous Day, Absentee Ballots and Breast Cancer Awareness

Your Five, Montville. Have a great day.

1. Gorgeous fall day; crunching leaves, full sun and crisp morning air followed by a perfect 70 degrees. So much better than the rain of late. Goodbye, gloom.

2. Heads-up: Bingo at the Chesterfield Fire Department is canceled this Saturday since there are not enough members available, president Tim Shanahan told us.

3. Absentee ballots are available for the Nov. 6 presidential election at Town Hall, the Town Clerk's office beginning Friday, Oct. 5.

4. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins today. Breast cancer is sadly something nearly all of use have some connection to. There are lots of events slated and not doubt many more will be announced in the coming days. We’ll keep you posted. Please support the groups, agencies and businesses that are working to increase awareness.

5. In the event you missed it, we started two new features last week; a spotlight on local businesses will run on Thursday’s and a Person of the Week will run on Fridays. I hope you’ll enjoy reading and sharing these as much as I’ll enjoy interviewing folks and writing their stories.
