This Weekend: Harvest Festival, MADD About Dancing Benefit

Don't miss the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation Walk, Hip Hop Late Skate and the Manhattan Short Film Festival.

There’s nothing like the weekend—a couple of days to lounge around without a care in the world. Yeah right, as if we’re about to let you waste your weekend watching Pretty Woman for the umpteenth time. It’s all right if you sleep in a little late or spend a few more minutes than usual in your PJs, but don’t you dare let the weekend pass you by without checking out some of these local happenings. Here’s what we suggest:

WHERE/WHEN: Friday at 7 p.m. at Mohegan Sun’s Cabaret Theatre.

WHY GO: Easy—your favorite local celebs will be shaking it on the dance floor. Other weekend performances include Chuck Wicks, Bernie Williams, Paul Anka, Eddie Money and Andy Grammer!

PRICING: Tickets to the MADD benefit are $50 each.

WHERE/WHEN: All walks/marathons begin at Saybrook Point Saturday at 7 a.m., opening ceremonies at 6:30 a.m. Full marathon ends at Camp Harkness.

WHY GO: You want to raise money for breast cancer research, and you like the color pink.

PRICING: Quarter marathon $200, super half marathon $250, marathon $500.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m.

WHY GO: Grape Stomping Contest, pumpkin painting, live music and wine, of course!

PRICING: Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Kids under 12 are admitted free with parents.

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at .

WHY GO: Skate the night away! Bring the kids out or make it a date!

PRICING: Admission is $10 per person.

WHERE/WHEN: Sunday at 3 p.m. at the .

WHY GO: Be Simon Cowell for the day—except you’ll be judging movies! Watch 10 short films and vote for your favorite.

PRICING: General admission tickets are $10 each.

Performances, panels, tours and entertainment galore! Admission is free and event starts Friday at 8 p.m. and then runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Walk begins Saturday at 10 a.m. at Harkness Park. Registration opens at 9 a.m.

VETTES AT THE VILLAGECheck out some rides and do a little shopping on Sunday at Olde Mistick Village. Show starts at 11 a.m.
