Grab & Go: Kid-Friendly Activities for March 2-8

Here's To Getting the Kids Out of the House...and Knowing What To Do With Them

This week’s Grab & Go Planner has some great ideas to keep those kids occupied this week. And yes, you’re welcome. There are some free events in there, too! Save that money for more important things—like McDonald’s drive –thru Happy Meals.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

WHERE/WHEN: This Friday at the Children’s Museum in Niantic.

WHY GO: Well the “free” aspect is pretty enticing—and the whole spending-time-with-your- family thing.

PRICING: Did we mention it’s free?

WHERE/WHEN: Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Providence Children’s Museum

WHY GO: Kids ages 3 to 11 will love all the Seussational crafts and activities planned for the weekend!

PRICING: Check out membership rates for the year! A two-person family membership is $80 for the year.

WHERE/WHEN: Borders in Waterford on Saturday at 2 p.m.

WHY GO: Kids age 6 to 10 are invited to celebrate reading—and Dr. Seuss, of course—with arts and crafts, stories and more!

PRICING: Hey, you’re the parent. You decide how many books these kids get to bring home. And how many you get, too.

WHERE/WHEN: Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

WHY GO: Filling up the old minivan is costing a pretty penny these days, so take advantage of free, local events! Afternoon admission is free, and visitors can enjoy art, activities and snacks.

PRICING: We don’t suggest leaving your wallet at home, but you won’t need it to get in here!

WHERE/WHEN: The Treworgy Planetarium is in Mystic at the Mystic Seaport.

WHY GO: The planetarium offers daily educational programs and lots of exhibits check out. Kids ages 6 and up are welcome.

PRICING: Access to the planetarium is free with seaport admission.
