This Week's Best of Patch

It's the Irene Edition!

Patch editors started preparing for Hurricane Irene a full five days before its arrival, spent the storm filing updates and reports despite no power and spotty cell service to run their websites, and have worked tirelessly since the winds died down to keep residents apprised of the latest news in their towns.

The result is a staggering collection of photos, video, and human interest stories (as well as many lists of impassable roads, drinkable water, and where to find a hot shower). In all, about 600 Patch sites contributed to our nationwide coverage, posting nearly 10,000 stories and blogs.

Here you will find a round-up of the coverage that the Patches in eastern Connecticut provided. This merely skims the surface of the amazing work that our editors and their dedicated freelancers did. And for even more coverage, visit each site’s Facebook page to see additional photos and stories there.
