The Old Dog Has a New Home

Josie has been adopted by a couple in Norwalk who devote themselves to adopting senior dogs.

Josie, the old dog who was found stuck in a briar patch on Raymond Hill Road, has been adopted!

Montville Animal Control Officer Chris Martel says she received more than 50 calls from people wanting to adopt Josie. Calls came from as far away as California and South Carolina, after a column about Josie on the Montville Patch went viral, on Patch and on Facebook.

Martel says she chose a couple from Norwalk, who devote themselves to adopting senior dogs. The couple has "impeccable veterinary references," Martel says.

"Their vet said they are (his) best clients," Martel says. "This is what they love to do. It sounds like they are set up pretty well to handle senior dogs."

The shelter still has some animals needing homes! Just because Josie is gone, that doesn't mean the need is finished.

There's Emma, a beautiful boxer mix with a lot of energy. She needs to be the only dog in the home, and it's better if it's an active home with no small children. She is a pretty, athletic dog - and though she's 8, she has the attitude of a much younger dog.

There's the nearly feral black kitty who could be a great barn cat, or a wonderful project for a patient cat lover... and while Weeble was adopted, tuxedo kitty Felice needs a home!

Tiffany Williams, who is fostering her, says Felice, who is probably three or four months old, is "a little shy a first , but lovey when she gets to know you. And she likes her belly rubbed. She is great with dogs and cats. Potty trained and frisky."

If you can adopt Emma or Felice or the black barn cat, please call Martel at 860-848-3529. The shelter is located on Maple Avenue, near the Public Works garage.
