Water problems

If you get your water from any of the following water companies, you are under a boil-water advisory, according to Patrick McCormack, director of the Uncas Health District:

The water companies are:

  • Oakridge Gardens
  • Oakridge Village
  • Meadows Apartments
  • Mountview Apartments
  • Thompson Hill
  • Seven Oaks

Low water pressure in these systems only - not townwide -  meant that the water suppliers could not guarantee appropriate bacteria levels. The systems will be sanitized and when they test cleanly, the alert will be off.

If your water is supplied by one of these small water companies, and you want to drink your tap water or use it for cooking, McCormack says to bring it to a rolling boil for one minute and then cool it.

Otherwise, you can get bottled water at Oakdale Firehouse and Montville Firehouse, one case per family per day, says Fire Marshal Ray Occhialini.

Brush

If you have storm-related brush, limbs or tree pieces, you can bring them to the temporary brush dump at the corner of Route 163 and Oxoboxo Dam Road.

Recycling

Montville will be on a holiday schedule next week for recycling, according to Beth Missios of the Department of Public Works. If your recycling day is regularly Monday, it will be Tuesday. Friday pick-up will be on Saturday.

Need something? Have something?

If you need something - help in the yard, a generator - please click here to find "Needs, Offers & Ideas." Wildrose Horse Farm asked for help lugging water for their horses, and reports this morning that help arrived!

If you have something you can lend, or some help you can offer, please feel free to post that, too.

And if you have a great idea about how to get by, or what to do before the next storm arrives, add that in, as well. And thank you!
