Power Starting to Come Back in Montville

Though the outage continues, here and there are lights and hot water

Some power on Route 163 and Route 32 has been restored, Fire Marshal Ray Occhialini reports this morning.

"Still, 96 percent of the town has no power," he says. The town is working with Connecticut Light & Power, and hopes to get power to Route 32, so gas stations and businesses there can open.

The showers at Montville High School will be open tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. You can also get water for drinking from the high school. Bring your own containers.

Occhialini says that residents can drop off brush and tree limbs and branches in the field at Route 163 and Oxoboxo Dam Road. Please do not bring any other kind of refuse. The brush collection is for tree-related things only.

The East Lyme Community Center shelter is open for anyone needing shelter.

Occhialini also says that Oakdale Pizza and the Great Wall are open, and running on generators. Before the storm, the owner of Friendly Pizza said he intended to stay open, as well.
