Inter-tribal Dance Competition, Singers And Traditional Regalia

Tribal members and people from the general public were dancing together at the the annual Mohegan Wigwam Festival Saturday. Tribal members were dancing in anticipation for Sunday's competition, though they were informally judged by audience members Saturday. The winners of each dance were determined by the volume of claps and cheers from the audience.

Dancers were accompanied by traditional drumming and singing during each round and money prizes were awarded for first, second and third place.

The Wigwam Festival is free and begins again Sunday at 11 a.m. at Fort Shantock in Uncasville. Public parking is available at Mohegan Sun, where people can catch a shuttle to the event, which is at Fort Shantock. Shuttles pick up at the Mohegan Sun bus lobby and the Thamesview Garage.
