Pasta Dinner Aims to Raise Money for Headstone for Joseph Mendes

Dinner Is Tonight at Mohegan Fire House

A pasta dinner scheduled for Friday will help raise awareness of bullying issues, and also raise funds for a headstone for Joseph Mendes, who committed suicide Jan. 28.

The dinner will take place at Mohegan Fire House on Norwich New London Turnpike, from 4-9 p.m.

The cost of the dinner is $7 for adults, and $3 for children 2-10 years old. Younger kids can eat for free.

Mendes was 15 when he committed suicide. His father has filed a notice of intent to sue the town, charging that "negligence and carelessness of the Town of Montville, the Montville Board of Education and the Montville Public Schools" led to Joseph's suicide.
