As summer comes to an end (don’t be sad - fall means apples and donuts and cider, oh my!), here’s an idea for some easy, quick, homemade fun for those last few hot and humid days!
Make a Pinaqua! (Adapted from Family Fun Magazine June/July 2011.)
Here’s what you need:
Plastic trash bag, medium-sized
Here’s what you do:
1. Fill the bag with water (1-2 gallons) and tie a knot in the top of the bag
2. Tie the rope beneath the knot (make sure it’s tight!)
3. Swing the rope over a tree branch and either have an adult hold onto the free end (in order to raise and lower the pinaqua) or secure it to the branch
4. The rules are up to you, but you might consider blindfolding the child, spinning him or her around a few times, and allowing three “whacks” with a broom or stick to see if he or she can break the bag
5. The winner gets wet!
[Note: Please talk to the children about being careful, use any necessary safety precautions, and make sure they have adult supervision.]
This is sure to be a wet winner for the kids! And maybe the adults will want to play too!
