Fire Marshal Ray Occhialini has an update for Montville:

Water in the Manor

Pump-station weakness is causing water problems in the Manor area of Oakdale. Bottled water is available at Oakdale Firehouse on Chapel Hill Drive, and at Montville Firehouse on Route 163. Occhialini says the rule is one case of bottled water per family per day.

The problem is only in the Manor section of town, Occhialini says.

MREs - Meals Ready to Eat - will be available at the Oakdale Firehouse, starting today at 2 p.m.

Occhialini says these are not quite delicious - "people think you pour water on them and they taste like steak," he says, adding that that is not the case - but they are substantial and nutritious. And they are free.

Showers

Montville High School will be open for showers from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. if needed over the holiday weekend, including Monday.

School

School is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. The Montville Patch will have an announcement if that opening date changes.

Roads

Occhialini reports that storm-related debris has been cleared from all roads in town.

Federal disaster help

Five people have contacted the Emergency Operations Center to report damage to their homes. Two teams from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are out in Montville looking for other homes that were damaged.

FEMA is not going through Montville or any other town selling generators at "half price." If someone approaches you with this claim, do not believe them. Call the EOC at 860-848-1417 and report the incident.
