Daily Five: Murphy Mad Dash, Lotsa Pasta, and April Showers

Your Daily Five for Wednesday April 10


1. Wet and warm today. One cannot complain too much about warm, April showers, which we all know, bring flowers in May. High today near 70 with a 50-50- chance of showers and rain throughout the day into the night.    

2. We salute Jill Mazzalupo for, as the Board of Education said, “for going above and beyond in providing leadership at Mohegan School during the principal's absence.” Congratulations and thank you!  

3. The public meeting date has been set for approval of Montville’s 2013-2014 $56 million budget; May 13 at 6 p.m.  

4. Murphy's Mad Dash for a Cure 5k is a 3.1-mile run/walk will be held at Murphy School on May 18th at 10 a.m. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the American Cancer Society. Check out murphysmaddash.com for more information and to register on-line.    

5. Make sure to be at the 9th Annual Pick Your Pasta Benefit Dinner
 presented by Montville Youth Service Bureau, which is slated for Sunday, April 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mohegan Firehouse. Enjoy your choice of fettuccini Alfredo, spaghetti with sauce, spaghetti with meatballs and all dinners include salad, garlic bread, beverage and dessert. Tickets, are $7 ($5 for kids and seniors), will be sold at the door; for advanced purchase you can go to 
MYSB at 289 Rt. 32 or call 860-848-7724. All proceeds support the Montville Youth Service Bureau After School Program
